Kanon was the fourth and final child born to John Kinopoulos and his wife, Stacy Millison-Kinopoulos. The couple had been set on having a large family, and his arrival finally made the Greek family feel complete. Like the three (a brother and two sisters) children before him, Kanon was given the full Greek experience as a child. Summers were spent in Greece with their mother and learning the language was vital in communicating with his grandparents. With the cultural background came Greek School in his younger years and, eventually, the Greek Orthodox Youth of America.
Kanon took to accepting his Greek background a lot easier than the first Kinopoulos child, but not as much as his sister just a couple of years older than him. By then, his parents learned that it was best not to push the issue. Their plan worked, and Kanon found that attending services was a lot more enjoyable when he wasn't being forced to do so.
School life for Kanon was mediocre at best, at least, when it came to his grades. Though an intelligent person, he was lacking in the motivation required to fall above the average mark. Studying and homework in general bored him; he much rather preferred spending those hours watching ridiculous television shows or playing video games. Once he realized that he was capable of making passing grades by only going over the material once (maybe twice), he took advantage and spent his time doing whatever was drawing his attention at the moment. Sometimes, it was something as quiet and calming as reading a book. Other times, he craved action. That was how he discovered baseball. He had tried soccer as an adolescent but didn't completely enjoy it. Baseball was different. There was a rush he left while on the field, and he was good. Almost good enough to be awarded a scholarship to play in college. Almost. The problem with Kanon was that he had a cocky attitude about his playing ability and a temper to match. Being told that he was not the type of player scouts were looking for was a true reality check for Kanon.
On the outside, Kanon appeared to be unbothered by this revelation but, in truth, it bothered him. Baseball was really never something he sought to do long term or even professionally, but his pride was bruised. After three turn downs, he simply stopped trying. The logical thing to do would have been to check his attitude, but that was too simple for Kanon. Instead, he decided that he didn't really want to go to college after all. He would just simply learn the inner workings of his father's restaurant and eventually take over command Yianni's Trapezi.
It was a good idea in the beginning, but Kanon soon learned that he neither had the passion nor the skill to run the Greek restaurant. At least, not if it required being in the kitchen. There were other ways to get in on the action so when he made the decision to finally try going back to school, he felt like it just may be a step in the right direction. He'd already spent plenty of time goofing around after high school, and it was time to start growing up. Applying to Westchester Community College was something he did on a whim, but it didn't take long for them to send him an acceptance letter.

Kanon is a self-proclaimed ladies' man. Whether it is true or not doesn't really matter to him, but he is confident enough (maybe too much) about himself to think that females enjoy being around him. The friend zone is a place that he is generally comfortable being in because, sometimes, even friends have benefits. His demeanor and flirtacious nature might cause some to think that he is a player, but he has never once cheated on a girl he was in a relationship with. He tends to be loyal to a fault.
Kanon can be extremely lazy when it comes to having to do something that he doesn't want to and has often been accused of procrastinating by his family as well as teachers. He's infamous for putting things off until the last minute. When it comes to things not working out how he planned or people pushing his buttons, he tends to have a short fuse on his temper and will lash out without thinking of the consequences.
